During this month participation to International Conference “Performance, Competitiveness, and Creativity - ECOTREND 2016” and study visit to "Constantin Brâncuşi" University of Targu Jiu has been realized. The two conference papers based on research within the SUST-MARINA project has been presented. The event’s goal of this conference was related to the major areas of specialization such as: Trade, Tourism and Globalization Contemporary Society and Sustainable Energies Paradigms Budget, Taxes and Public InvestmentAccounting and Banking Performance Management Cybernetics, Statistics and Applied InformaticsThe primary aim of our participation is to highlight important issues relevant to Theme No 2, especially in the energy management sector of the shipping industry. As the papers show, energy conservation and management has become an issue of prime importance to the industry and several methodologies and best practices have already appeared in the literature and have been applied to ships and ports. This year, the working team from SUST-MARINA project is presented two conference papers under the titles:

- Energy Efficiency in the Shipping Sector – A case study

Both papers will be published in the Conference proceedings with ISSN, under the Academic Session “Contemporary Society and Sustainable Energies Paradigms”. Both papers will be peer-reviewed during the full paper submission process. These papers are considered to be very interesting and within the priorities and actualities set out by the ECOTREND 2016 conference, since it is related to Sustainable Development, Environmental management and energy management. Moreover, the SUST-MARINA project and the concept of sustainable development in Montenegro will be promoted. Along with the conference attendance and study visit, Prof. Tselentis will exchange the experience with the actualities of sustainable development in Greece and Montenegro to those from the other countries from which the participants will be attended. Also, regarding the academic session, it will be also discussed about the principles of applying sustainable development and energy conservation to port and ship operations, especially in the case of small ports such as marinas.
