Project Manager, Prof. Dr. Branislav Dragović member of IAME participated at IAME 2016 and has presented the papers entitled Modeling of operations at Seaport Automobile Terminal with Bulk Queuing System written by Branislav Dragovic, Romeo Mestrovic, Ernestos Tzannatos, Maritime Faculty, University of Montenegro, Kotor, Montenegro, Department of Maritime Studies, University of Piraeus, Piraeus, Greece. He also had several meetings with very important persons such as IAME president, Dr. Jan Hofmann; Dr. Michele Acciaro, Kuhne Logistics University – Hamburg, conference chair; Prof. Dr. Harilaos Psaraftis, Danish Technical University; Prof. Dr. Athanasios Pallis, MedCruise Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Paul Lee, Melbourne; Prof. Dr. Ilias Visvikis, WMU, Sweden; Prof. Dr. Jasmine Siu Lee Lam, Singapore; Prof. Dr. Adolf Ng, Canada; Prof. Dr. Orestis Schinas, Hamburg; Prof. Dr. Okan Dury, USA; Prof. Dr. Koichiro Tezuka, Japan; Dr. Sebastian Zurheide, MAERSK LINE; Prof. Gordon Wilsmeier, Chile; Zaili Yang, UK; Prof. Dr. Hercules Haralambides, Profeessor of Maritime Economics at the Erasmus School of Economics and Director of the Erasmus Center for Maritime Economics among others and took this opportunity for elaboration and promotion of SUST-MARINA project.
Prof. Dr. Branislav Dragović has realized a study visit to the Port of Hamburg including Ferry and Cruise Terminal and various Marinas in Hamburg in order to the exchange experience about the tourism development and sustainable concept that directly impacts on small nautical ports and marinas in the region such as North Sea.
Prof. Dr. Branislav Dragović has been in auditorium in front of the three the best PhD candidates through MEL. He has special meeting with winner of PhD MEL price during IAME 2016, Dr. Jason Angelopoulos from University of Piraeus, Department of Maritime Studies.
Conference topic was related to the maritime transport of the future: the role of innovation uptake, sustainability and availability of shipping finance. The conference covers many aspects of maritime transport and logistics, gathering eminent names from the academic sphere as well as professional experts. The conference traditionally hosts round tables with topical subject as well as poster and classic presentation sessions. The authors have presented their work in various working areas, namely: Seaport competition based on structural complementarily and substitutability, port city relationships, operations research applications to the shipping, port/ terminal and transport industries, port economics and management among others.
During this training, special attention has been paid to the exchange of experience about Maritime and Port Logistics – Operations research applications to the shipping, port/ terminal and transport industries regarding marinas and nautical ports as they have developed throughout other regions in Europe, Asia, Far east, North America and the Mediterranean and it is believed that the researchers on the project will acquire new knowledge.
