Project Manager, Prof. Dr. Branislav Dragović visited Department of Maritime Studies, University of Piraeus and Greek marinas Zea, Flisvos and Agios Kosmas from 17th to 21st March. First was organized an official meeting with a dean of School of Maritime and Industrial Studies, Prof. Dr. Ernestos Tzannatos.
The practical items of this study visit were related to the following visits of marinas: Zea, Flisvos and Agios Kosmas as well as Port of Piraeus. Prof. Dr. Branislav Dragović had very intensive meetings with marina and port management teams (including Angelos Kopitsas, general manager of marina Zea and member of a board, Chrisoula Panagiotopoulou, quality and safety manager of marina Flisvos, Paraskevi Kalamara, director of Seaport Automobile Terminal in Port of Piraeus, among other) in order to collect some information about their sustainable development concept and green standards that are implemented in the previous period. Also, very detail guide tours were provided with all aspects of the Blue Flag criteria and discussion about the ISO certification steps were reported. During Project Manager’s study visit, his host has been Prof. Dr. Basil-Stelios Tselentis and other Professors from University of Piraeus, Aegean University (Prof. Dr. Nikitas Nikitakos), National Technical University of Athens (Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Lyridis) and so on. All of them took this opportunity to analyze the Environmental Management System and ISO standards in marina. It all served to strengthen the cooperation between the institutions, especially between Professors from both sides with regards to the future scientific cooperation and possibility of the specialization of young researchers.
Some meeting and roundtables have been organized in different places in Piraeus. Main goals of this study to Greece were related to the Blue Flag and ISO standards implementation in marinas and nautical ports. On the other hand, the collected data and up-to-date analysis of nautical ports and marinas are very important for defining the future project activities for Blue Flag programme and ISO certification of marinas and nautical ports based on very good experience and high knowledge of Professors from Greece.
